Edward Charles Janelle

BRISTOL - Edward "Ed" Charles Janelle Jr., 54, of Bristol, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, with family by his side. Born in New Britain on February 17, 1959, Ed was raised in the Southington area, where he attended local schools. He followed in the footsteps of the many military men in his family, enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country for three years receiving an honorable discharge in 1979; his patriotism always remained close to his heart. He served for a brief time in the Southington Fire Department, Company #1, and worked as an EMT in his earlier years. He was currently employed in the technology industry, working for Konica. Ed fulfilled his passion for helping others and riding his beloved Harley, he participated and helped organize countless charity rides throughout the state, forming a wide circle of friends. As a devoted father and grandfather, his family brought him the greatest joy. He will be missed dearly by his family and many friends, leaving many cherished memories and a legacy of humbleness and kindness towards others. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Janelle, of Wilmington, N.C.; his father, Edward Janelle Sr. and his wife, Betty, of Southington; his adored children, Christina Janelle Harvey and Chris Redo of Plainville; Brandon Janelle and Victoria Janelle, of Bristol, and Alicia Janelle, of Southington; and his pride and joy, his granddaughter, Madison Glasper. He also leaves his sisters, Sandra Spano and her husband, Steve, of Wilmington, N.C., and Karen Wilson and her husband, Kyle of Sewanee, Ga.; his nieces, Kristina, Jessica, Lindsey and Jennifer; and several great-nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville. Family and friends may gather on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
