Judge R.R. Buckley, 74, of Tifton, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, in Tifton. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Tifton with Dr. W. Wayne Roe and Dr. W. Ches Smith III officiating. Burial will follow at Rutland Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Rob Buckley, Steven Goldman, Al Janelle, Ross Buckley, Korey Keeter, Tony Quinney, Art McClellan and Greg Rutland will serve as pallbearers. Tifton Judicial Circuit judges and attorneys will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Buckley was born on Dec. 21, 1932, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Charles Edward Buckley and Gladys K. Buckley.

As an attorney and judge, R. R. Buckley enjoyed a reputation as fair, practical and efficient. He was Judge Emeritus of the State Courts of Georgia, having served as Judge of the Municipal Court for over a decade and State Court of Tift County for two decades. In addition to his duties as State Court Judge, R. R. Buckley filled in as Judge for Dougherty, Lowndes, Berrien, Clinch, Lanier, Cook, Atkinson, Tift, Wayne, Brooks and Terrell Superior Courts. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Georgia Law School. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1961. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War

Though he accomplished much in his career, his family always came first. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton. He enjoyed attending UGA football games and was an avid saltwater fisherman. He was a member of the Tifton Jaycees and past exalted ruler of the Tifton Elks Lodge.

Mr. Buckley is survived by his spouse, Myra Rutland Buckley; four daughtrs and sons-in-law, Krystal Buckley Byers and Jim Byers of Anaheim, Cal., Susan Buckley Goldman and Alex Goldman of Athens, Lisa Buckley Janelle and Ray Janelle of Tifton and Jennifer Buckley McCall and Walter McCall of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Robert Buckley Jr. and Venisha J. Buckley; and his brother and sister-in-law, Drs. Charles Edward Buckley III and Rebecca H. Buckley and their children of Durham, N.C.

Mr. Buckley is survived by his grandchildren, Lauren Janelle, Kristi Janelle, Al Janelle, Tamara Maddox, Amanda Maddox, Richard R. Buckley III, Ross Buckley, Ryan Buckley, Steven Goldman, Chase Goldman, Kaylie Goldman, Alyssa Goldman, Austin Harris, Madison Harris, Nathan McCall, Nick McCall and Ashton McCall.

Estella ‘Estelle’ Patrick

ST. SIMONS ISLAND — Estella Thomas Patrick, 86, of St. Simons Island, formerly of Omega, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at her home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Omega Cemetery with the Rev. Terrell Ruis officiating.

Born February 27, 1921, in Thomasville to the late Daniel Baker Thomas and Sara Sowell Thomas, Mrs. Patrick was also preceded in death by her husband, Trummie Lee Patrick Sr., two sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Patrick had lived on St. Simons Island for four years. She was a member of Omega Baptist Church and a former member of the Tifton Pilot Club. She was very active in her church. Mrs. Patrick loved to garden and fish and operated a successful florist for many years.
